Tullow, in collaboration with Youth Bridge Foundation (YBF), has introduced the Tullow Alumni Connect (TAC) initiative in Ghana. This initiative highlights Tullow’s enduring dedication to education in Ghana and strengthens its longstanding partnership with Youth Bridge Foundation.
Education plays a vital role in shaping a prosperous economic future. However, merely obtaining an education doesn’t always guarantee a successful career. Research demonstrates that practical experience, expertise, skills, and mentorship are crucial factors in advancing young careers. The launch of Tullow Alumni Connect aims to address this gap in Ghana.
Since 2012, Tullow has been actively supporting the educational aspirations of numerous young Ghanaians, enabling over 1,000 students to pursue tertiary education. The Alumni network will engage these beneficiaries, along with recipients of various Tullow tertiary scholarship programs, to form a community of alumni dedicated to mentoring and providing essential skills training for young people.
The objective is to annually reach out to 1,000 students and connect approximately 600 beneficiaries with employment opportunities through the network.
Seth Oteng, Executive Director of Youth Bridge Foundation, expressed, “Expanding on our fruitful collaboration with Tullow, the Alumni Network will fill gaps for positive youth development in Ghana. We are empowering young people to position themselves for success.”
Cynthia Lumor, Deputy Managing Director of Tullow Ghana, stated, “As a responsible and forward-thinking company, we have always stressed the significance of education as a catalyst for growth and prosperity. Education holds the key to unlocking transformational opportunities. By partnering with organizations like the Youth Bridge Foundation in Ghana, we can make a lasting impact in the country.”
In addition to Tullow’s contributions to education since its establishment in Ghana’s oil fields, the company announced in 2021 an investment of US$10 million over five years in
