Kofi Amankwa-Manu, the Deputy Minister of Defence and Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma, has initiated the construction of a district police headquarters in Atwima Foase, located in the Ashanti Region.
The project, funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund, is set to be completed within six months.
During a brief ground-breaking ceremony, Mr. Amankwa-Manu emphasized the crucial role of security in fostering sustainable growth and development within communities.
He highlighted the necessity to enhance security in the constituency to align with his agenda for area development, stating, “security is a fundamental human right in today’s modern world.”
Mr. Amankwa-Manu commended the efforts of the police in combating crime in the area and expressed optimism that the provision of a well-equipped police headquarters would bolster their operations.
He urged all stakeholders, including traditional leaders, to support the contractors to ensure timely completion of the project.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Prince Karikari, urged the contractor to engage local youth in the project to stimulate the local economy.
Nana Appiah Ampim Frimpong II, the Chief of Foase, praised the MP and DCE for prioritizing the community’s needs and assured support for the contractors to facilitate successful project execution.
Representing Construction Ambassadors, the contractors, Mr. Christian Abedu affirmed their commitment to completing the project on schedule.
Chief Superintendent Ernest Acheampong, the Asokwa Divisional Commander, stressed the importance of the infrastructure in enabling effective crime prevention. He commended the political leaders for prioritizing security in the district.
